Dress Code
All students are expected to wear the proper uniform to every class.
General requirements
- All students are expected to wear the proper uniform to every class.
- Female students should wear their hair tied back, (a bun is required for ballet) and loose hair should be pinned back to show the face clearly.
- No jewelry should be worn.
- Sport bras should not be worn unless they match the leotard.
- Leotard color must match those in our boutique.
- Underwear should not be worn under tights.
- For the convenience of our students our Dance Boutique carries all required leotards, shoes, tights and accessories as well as LPAA merchandise.
Adult Classes
- Comfortable non-restrictive clothing.
- Appropriate dance shoes for the style. Tap shoes for Tap, Ballet Shoes for Ballet, etc.
Tiny Ballet & Pre-Ballet
- Girls: Light Pink leotard, light pink skirt, light pink tights (or ankle socks). No tutus or "dress up" clothes permitted. Hair in a bun or ponytail.
- Boys: T-shirt tucked into elastic waist shorts, white ankle socks
- Leather Ballet Slippers (pink for girls, black for boys)
Pre-Ballet & Tap I/II & Primary Ballet & Tap
- Girls: Light Pink leotard, light pink skirt, light pink tights (or ankle socks). No tutus or "dress up" clothes permitted. Hair in a bun or ponytail.
- Boys: T-shirt tucked into elastic waist shorts, white ankle socks
- Leather Ballet shoes (pink for girls, black for boys)
- Black Tap shoes w/velcro closure (no ties or snaps allowed).
Kids Bop, Twirl & Tumble
- Girls wear a Red leotard, black LPAA knit shorts, tan tights (or ankle socks). Hair in ponytail.
- Boys wear Red/Black t-shirt with athletic shorts/pants.
- Slip-on Jazz shoes (tan for girls, black for boys).
Broadway Kids
- Comfortable non-restrictive clothing.

Acro
- Girls wear a biketard or leotard with knit shorts/leggings, hair in a ponytail.
- Boys wear t-shirt tucked into elastic waist shorts.

Elementary Ballet & Tap 1
- Girls wear a Berry leotard (Bloch, nylon/spandex), Berry skirt, light pink tights (or ankle socks),Hair: Bun/Snood. Leotard must match those in our boutique.

- Leather ballet shoes (pink for girls, black for boys)
- Black mary jane buckle tap shoes (Bloch Tap-On) (Boys oxford style)
Elementary Jazz & Hip-Hop 1
- Girls wear a Turquoise leotard (Bloch, nylon/spandex), Black LPAA shorts, tan tights (or ankle socks) Hair: Ponytail. Leotard must match those in our boutique.
- Boys wear t-shirt tucked into elastic waist shorts.
- Slip-on jazz shoes (tan for girls, black for boys)
- Black/White sneakers (any brand with white soles)
Elementary Ballet/Tap/Jazz 1

Upper Elementary Ballet/Tap/Jazz
- Girls wear pink tights, Light Blue leotard (Eurotard brand, Microfiber), white skirt, black LPAA knit shorts. Hair: Bun/Snood. Leotard must match those in our boutique.
- Boys wear t-shirt tucked into elastic waist shorts. Black ballet, tap, jazz shoes.
- Pink Leather ballet shoes
- Black oxford tap shoes (Bloch Respect)
- Tan Slip-On Jazz Shoes.
Ballet
- Hair must be worn in a bun with a hairnet & bobby pins or snood for all ballet classes. Short skirts may be worn permitted colors are listed below. Leotard color, style, and fabric must match those in our boutique.
- Ballet 2: Lavender leotard (Bloch brand, Bloch nylon/spandex), Pink tights (or ankle socks), Pink ballet shoes and Lavender skirt (note: Skirt is required at this level).
- Ballet 3: Aubergine leotard (Bloch brand, Bloch nylon/spandex), Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes. Optional: Aubergine skirt
- Ballet 4: Paradise Blue leotard Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes. Optional: Paradise or white skirt.
- Ballet 5: Royal Blue leotard Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes. Optional: Royal Blue or Black skirt.
- Ballet 6: Purple leotard Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes. Optional: Purple or Black skirt.
- Ballet 7: Navy leotard Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra, Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes. Optional: Navy or Black skirt.
- Ballet 8: Black leotard, Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes. Optional: Black skirt, or patterned skirt.
- Open Ballet: Black leotard, Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes. Optional: Black skirt.
- PBT/Pointe Prep: Any color leotard, Pink convertible tights, Pink Satin Demi-Pointe Shoes.
- Beginning Pointe: Purple leotard Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes. Optional: Purple or Black skirt.
Male Students
- Ballet: White t-shirt, black pants or shorts, white socks, black ballet shoes.
- Other: Solid t-shirt, black pants or shorts, black jazz shoes.
- Tap: black tap oxford.
Broadway
- Comfortable non-restrictive clothing (e.g. tank top/t-shirt, leggings, joggers, etc.)
- Girls: Tan slip-on Jazz Shoes.
- Boys: Black Jazz shoes or black sneakers.
Musical Theatre Dance
- Leotard, black shorts/leggings.
- Girls: Tan character shoes (skin tone, 1.5-inch heel) and black oxford tap shoes.
- Boys: Black Jazz shoes or black sneakers and black tap shoes.
Tap
- Solid color leotard, black shorts or leggings,
- Level 2: Black Mary Jane Tap shoes (Bloch Tap-On with buckle).
- Level 3 & up: Black tap oxford (Bloch Respect or JSams).
Jazz / C.J.T. / Poms
- Solid color leotard, Black shorts or leggings, tan slip-on jazz shoes.
HS Dance Team Tech/Prep
- Athletic Top or Leotard, Black shorts or leggings, tan slip-on jazz shoes or half-soles.
Contemporary-Modern / Lyrical / Dance Strong
- Solid color leotard, Black shorts or leggings, bare feet.
Hip-Hop
- Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing, t-shirts, sweatpants or other loose pants/shorts are encouraged, and sneakers (worn indoors only). Sneakers need to be black with white soles, accents with white/light grey. No colors.
Petite, Mini & Youth Company
- Ballet/Tap/Jazz Rehearsal
- Girls wear pink tights, a Black leotard, Black LPAA Shorts. Hair: Bun/Snood.
- Boys wear t-shirt tucked into elastic waist shorts. Black ballet, tap, jazz shoes.
- Shoes: Pink Leather ballet shoes
- Petite & Mini: Black MaryJane (Bloch tap-On)
- Tan Slip-On Jazz Shoes
- Youth: Black Oxford (Bloch Respect)
Hip-Hop Company
- Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing, t-shirts, sweatpants or other loose pants/shorts are encouraged, and sneakers (worn indoors only). Once the performance shoe arrives it must be worn to rehearsals.
Junior/Intermediate/Senior Company
- See Class dress code for the style. Leotard can be any color.
Pom Company
- Petite & Elementary: Black leotard, Black LPAA shorts, tan slip-on jazz shoes.
- Jr High Prep: Solid color leotard, Black shorts or leggings, tan slip-on jazz shoes.
- Junior High: Solid color leotard, Black shorts or leggings, half-soles.
