At LoMastro Performing Arts Academy, we believe that versatility is the base—the solid foundation from which dancers grow in technique, artistry, and confidence. Encouraging students to train in multiple dance styles not only strengthens their technical ability, but also builds adaptability, creativity, and self-expression.

Why Versatility Matters

Training across a range of styles allows dancers to develop as well-rounded artists. Each genre contributes something unique, helping students shine both on stage and in life. Here's how:

  • Ballet: The classical foundation for all dance forms, ballet builds strength, grace, alignment, and discipline. Our curriculum blends the Cecchetti Method with Vaganova, Bournonville, and RAD influences, ensuring well-rounded classical training.

  • Tap:Tap teaches rhythm, musicality, and precise footwork. It sharpens a dancer’s ear and helps them become more connected to the music—skills that transfer to every other style.

  • Jazz: With its high energy and expressive movement, jazz enhances strength, flexibility, and dynamic performance quality. It bridges the gap between classical and contemporary forms of dance.

  • Hip-Hop: Rooted in street dance culture, hip-hop fosters creativity, individuality, and freestyle movement. It challenges dancers to explore musicality and performance in bold, new ways.

But the journey doesn't stop there. To truly level up, dancers can expand into:

  • Musical Theatre (Broadway): This style brings storytelling to life through dance, acting, and sometimes even singing. It teaches stage presence, character development, and expressive performance—crucial tools for dancers who dream of the spotlight.

  • Acro: Acro dance integrates tumbling and gymnastics with choreography, requiring strength, control, and flexibility. It empowers dancers to push physical boundaries and add exciting new layers to their movement vocabulary.

  • Contemporary/Lyrical: Contemporary blends elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance to encourage emotional expression and fluid, grounded movement. It challenges dancers to connect deeply with music and tell compelling stories through motion.

The LoMastro Student Journey

At LoMastro, our structured training path encourages students to explore a variety of styles as they grow, advancing based on skill mastery and personal readiness. Each class builds on the next, giving students the confidence and tools to express themselves through many different forms of dance.

Celebrating Versatile Dancers: The Star Circle

We created the Star Circle to recognize and support families committed to well-rounded training. Students enrolled in the recommended core classes—Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Hip-Hop—and those who go beyond by adding styles like Musical Theatre, Acro, and Contemporary/Lyrical are celebrated through exclusive perks and opportunities that honor their dedication to growth.
