Young dancers watch advanced students practicing en pointe,

We are excited to offer Pointe Prep training to our dancers at LoMastro Performing Arts Academy! As they begin this important step in their training, it’s essential that they are fully prepared with the proper footwear and supplies from the first week of class.

Why Demi Pointe Shoes?

Demi Pointe shoes are a valuable tool in preparing dancers for pointe work. While they look similar to pointe shoes, they are not designed to bear weight on the toes, and dancers will not be going en pointe in them.

Unlike ballet flats, Demi Pointe shoes feature a full leather outsole, which creates more resistance. This resistance strengthens the dancer’s foot, improves articulation, and helps ease the transition to full pointe shoes by building strength and control before dancers progress to pointe work.

What Your Dancer Needs for the First Week of Class:

Demi Pointe shoes

Toe pads

Sewing supplies (ribbons and elastics will need to be sewn onto the shoes; we will provide needle & thread and guidance in class).

There is an art to sewing ribbons appropriately, and it’s important that dancers learn this skill. Properly sewn ribbons provide the necessary support and ensure that the shoes fit securely.

Where to Get Supplies

We carry Demi Pointe shoes and toe pads in our boutique for your convenience. You may also purchase them at Allegro Dance Boutique in Evanston.
